Just popped back onto your site to read comments since I made mine in 2007. Glad your still going strong. have there been any more Elizabetan Fayres since 2003 and are there any planned for the future? I would love to come back and have a look round the village again and it would be great to do it when such an event takes place!. If there is anything planned could you let me know by email please. BTW are the front gates still used as goalposts? they were in my day!
School looks just as it did when i was there. I really loved the school and the village and in the words of Arnie..."I'll be back!"

Editor: We now have a purpose bulit Astro turf area on the field that we use as a play ground so we no longer have to use the front gates as goal posts. The aperance of the school hasn't changed that much over the past 100 years, apart from the sad loss of our much loved Monkey Puzzle tree earlier this year, which we believe has been here almost as long as the school! Please come and see us, we would love to hear your stories about the school.

I attended Stebbing school in 1946 - 1947. The only teacher that I can remember is Mr Taylor, who was the headmaster. The photo of the school looks exactly the same now as it did then.. has anything changed?

Whilst researching for a presentation at work found an article on CBBC Newsround website regarding your advert for a Headteacher back in 2005. Ad was designed as a lonely heart ad. What an innovation. Hope it worked for you.

Editor. Yes it did, we have a great Headteacher in place! (this was not written by HT)

Wow, blast from the past finding this. I lived in the village and attended the school from 1979-1986 (I think!). I lived in Brookfields and remember Mr Elkington and his cane, and later Mr Leek as Head. Mrs Quigley, Mrs Burton, Mrs Henderson, gosh and more that are on the tip of my tongue. And the wonderful dinner ladies who would pull our wobbly teeth out for us in the playground!
Those were the days!!
Now living in Northants having travelled and returned to the UK to have 3 boys with my Israeli hubby.

I left Stebbing CP in 1987 and remember my time there as the best school days of my life - delighted to see you are on the web! The things that I remember include Mr Elkington, Mrs Quigley, the old boat in the field behind the school, learning to swim in the freezing out door pool and of course the Monkey Puzzle tree. Puts a smile on my face to see the school is still as great as it was back then!

I was at stebbing school in the 60's and have fond memories of my time there. teachers were Mr Hill, mad about snakes as i remember, Mrs Thompson who taught me to read and Mrs Campbell the head mistress. i remember running round the field and the swimming pool we had to raise money for. the playground where we played fairys and withches and the skipping ropes. I now live in Spain, tesching Spanish to English pensioners and English to Spanish kids and adults. hey ho.

I went to your school about 1968-71 ish but cant remember my teachers names, Mr Elkington does sound familiar but I do remember two of the male teachers being very keen cricket fans and I do remember really interesting essays capturing the scenes at bygone test matches being written on the board for us to copy when practicing our joined up handwriting! I remember the Queen briefly passing through the village when we were allowed to line the road, wave flags and watch her car drive past. I also remember a Gibert and Sullivan concert we also put on (I was a narrator I recall) when we sung many of their well known comic opera songs! Really enjoyed my time at the school and living in the village (the Elizabethan fairs and pram races were legendary!).All the best

I was at Stebbing from 1976 to 1979 and can remember the monkey puzzle tree, the cold swimming pool - you had to have your feet inspected by Mr Elkington first - aargh! Also remember celebrating the school's centenery in 1978 where we all dressed up in period clothing. Great website!

Hello Stebbing Primary School!
As you can see, my surname is Stebbing, and my ancestors came from your village soon after the time of William the Conqueror. My older sister Anne has all the details.
Anyway, do like your excellent school website, and I'm very pleased that the important work of learning continues in the village.
God Bless

I was at Stebbing from 1984/1991 and was in the same class as Louise Norris - we were probably the bain of Mrs Walker and Mrs Huntingford's lives! Stebbing was and is a great school and 14 years later (aaah!) I am still in contact with people from the school, it was Louise who told me about the website! Hello to Mrs Walker and Mrs Huntingfrod - I hope you are still making your pupils do daily maths and spelling tests...my maths is still very good..although Louise used to copy my spellings and I used to copy her maths!!

keep up the good work!
